You're a 90's Kid If...

animaldude

Sage in Training
I found this on some facebook group and it's pretty cool. Some of these things do apply to me:

You're a 90's kid if:

You can finish this [ice ice _ _ _ _ ]

You remember watching Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Pinky and the Brain

AAAAAAAH Real Monsters!

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"

You just cant resist finishing this . . . "Iiiiiiin west philidelphia born and raised . . ."

You remember TGIF, Step by Step, Family Matters, Dinosaurs, and Boy Meets World.

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on a Saturday to watch cartoons.

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

You remember reading "Goosebumps"

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence . . . not

when everyhting was settled by rock paper scissors..or bubble gum bubble gum in a dish...and even better daddy had a donkey inky binky bonky.

when cops and robbers was a daily activity.

when we played Hide and go seek until our legs grew numb.

when we used to obey our parents

You used to listen to the radio all day long just to record your FAVORITE song of ALL time.

"Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" was both a game and a TV game show.

Captain Planet. He's a Hero.

You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green ranger, were meant to be together.

You remember when Super Nintendos and Sega Genisis became popular.

You always wanted to send in a tape to America's Funniest Home Videos . . . but never taped anything funny.

You remember watching Home Alone 1, 2 , and 3 . . . and tried to pull the pranks on "intruders"

You remember watching The Magic School Bus, Wishbone, and Reading Rainbow on PBS.

You remember when Yo-Yos were cool.

You remember those Where's Waldo books.

You remember eating Warheads.

You remember watching the 1st Batman, Aladin, Ninja Turtles, and 3 Ninjas movies.

You remember Ring Pops.

You remember drinking Surge, and Tang.

If you remember when every thing was "da BOMB!"

When they made the new lunchables so that you could make pizza AND tacos.

You remember boom boxes vs. cd players.

Making those little paper fortune cookie things, and then predicting your life with them.

You played and/or collected "Pogs" :)

You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet, or Nano and brought it everywhere.

. . . Furbies.

You haven't always had a computer, and it was cool to have the internet.

And Windows 95 was the best.

You watched the original cartoons of Rugrats, Power Rangers, and Ninja Turtles.

Michael Jordan was a king.

pencils and erasers were the ****!!!

All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand.

You remember when the new Beanie Babies and Talking Elmo were always sold out.

You collected those Beanie Babies.

Carebears

Gak was the coolest stuff invented.

Lambchop's song never ended.

The old dollar bills.

Silver dollars, which were cool to have.

You remember a time before the WB.

You collected all the Troll dolls

If you even know what an original walkman is.

You remember wanting to sit on the orange Nickelodeon couch.

You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

You know the Macarena by heart

"Talk to the hand" . . . enough said

You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!"

You went to McDonald's to play in the playplace.

You remember playing on merry go rounds at the playground.

Before the facebook frenzy...

Before the Internet & text messaging . . .

Before Sidekicks & iPods . . .

Before MIKE JONES . . .

Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX . . .

Before Spongebob . . .

When light up sneakers were cool.

When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

If you read the Captain Underpant's Series.

If Nick JR. is just for you.

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

When we recorded stuff on VCRs.

When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off of our walkman.

If you ever owned a slap bracelet.

If you ever wore Zuba Pants.

If you knew/know the words to "If you wanna be my lover" by the Spice Girls.

If you have any idea who Kriss Kross is.

If you could "Skip it" better than you could jump rope.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chip and Dale, Rescue Rangers!!!

If you were Livin' La Vida Loca.

If you played Heads-up 7up in class.

When all that was in a happy meal was either a barbie or a hot wheels car.

If you made tough decisions using the "eeny-meeny-miney-moe" method.

A time when the only thing you could catch from the opposite sex was cooties.

Way back.

Before we realized all this would eventually disappear.

Who would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!!

It kinda gets me sad though... don't exactly know why.

I've seen re-runs of those shows... I also loved double dare 2000 but that doesn't count since it came out in... well... 2000. I must admit, Nickelodeon was the absolute pawnage in the 90's/ early 2000's.

I wish i could've seen that on the news... *goes off to youtube and searches for "Lewinsky Scandal"*

Here's another one:
  • If you saw the Yankees win 4 World Series in 5 years
I wish I could've seen that but unfortunately I started watching baseball religiously in 2001. I did get to see the 2000 world series though.

Holy ****, I am such a 90s kid. And Olmeck's Temple was awesome.

I still use floppys btw.

90's all the way.... It makes you sad cause you realize life sucks now..... I loved Rugrats... Ive been contemplating buying the original series to show my kids in the future... They deserve to remember the good 'ol days....

Another few things

  • you owned a Gameboy or a Gameboy Color...
  • Pokemon was the awesomest show ever concocted in Japan or America
  • The show Angry Beavers was still on air...
  • The only curse word you knew was hell and you NEVER said it
  • Your mind didn't contort words into innuendoes -.-
  • You said "coolio" or "yupper doodles"
What happened to the good times...?

I think controting words into innuendo has really just happened as we grew older.

I dod miss a lot of those things... Like the original Power Rangers!

the 90s...the best 7 years of my life... i got nightmares from "are u afraid of the dark" i loved yo yos and light up sneakers...pwnage!!! those were the good old days.. i miss it, like animal said, nickalodian was amazing back then with rugrats, dug, ren and stumpy, ROCOS MONDERN LIFE, and real monsters. i wish i could go back in time and relive all that stuff

I am a 90's kid. I miss those cartoons on saturday morning. Dexter's Lab, Justice friends, cow and chicken. They were all great. I read goosebumps and watched the show. Watched captain planet. And I still have my sega genesis. I had pogs. and other things from the list.

There are a number of those "wish it were still the 90's" groups on Facebook. Guess that just shows how much people miss it.

Here's some more to add to the list:

You remember when it was uncommon for men to have long hair,

You spent hours playing Donkey Kong Country,

You remember seeing or hearing of movies such as The Lion King, Matilda, and The Parent Trap

You remember Toy Story and Toy Story 2, but you have no desire to see Toy Story 3

You remember when you saw more Ford Taurus' than any other vehicle and when the Windstar and Aerostar minivans still existed,

You remember when station wagons were more common than SUV's.

You remember when cell phones were as a big as a fu#&* pencil sharpener

You remember Acclaim

You wanted one of those different colored iMacs more than anything in the world

You remember how tragic it was when John F. Kennedy Jr. died in a plane crash

You remembered Stick Stickly and you did not associate his name with anything else

You remember how awesome the show Kenan and Kel was

You always wished to one day be on All That

You remember when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were considered "heroes"

You remember when John Elway, Wayne Gretsky, and Cal Ripken Jr. actually were heroes

You remembered when it was the social norm to say words like "funky"

And finally...how fitting

You remember when one of the greatest Zelda games was released in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time"

ZOMG
Angry Beavers
Kablam
Dexter's Lab
Johnny Bravo
Kenan and Kel
The Jetsons
Huckleberry Hound
Yogi Bear (smarter than the average bear)
Looney Tunes (from the 90s)
Scooby Doo, Where Are You?

Some of the best shows ever.

Also, Chinese food!

What about Rocco's Modern Life and the good version of the Rugrats, those were good to ;).

Ouh, and Hey Arnold!

Those programs actually taught us something while remaining interesting. Todays show are really a bunch of mindless dribble that people call TV (with the exception of a few 90s shows still on the air, I'm connecting to the shows of the current century).

...Wow, I sound old...

*woot 200th post!!*

You're right! I just realized that. I do remember when shows actually had a moral. That basically died with the introduction of "Fairly Oddparents"...

Congrats on your 200th.

Samurai Jack

The Amanda Show

Anyone remember Kablam? Ah, that was such a great show!

And I really liked the depressing moral-less endings of the Fairly Odd-Parents. Like Malcolm In the Middle.
