Generic Update

Hello everyone! I would like to begin by apologizing for the lack of updating in the past month or so. I have been INCREDIBLY preoccupied with college business and haven't really found the time to sit down and type up an update. Getting to Zelda, we have a few updates to be discussed (thought you've probably heard of them by now).

1. With a 99% assurance that we will see something (most likely a trailer) at E3 this year, there is also the possibility that there will be playable demos, as Mr. Aonuma has stated.

2. It seems that new hardware on both the handheld and the home console fronts are on the horizon. Undeniably, this will indefinitely effect the the future of Zelda games, as to be discussed in later updates.

3. On the 24th of February, which is two days from now incases you didn't know, Nintendo will be holding a Media Summit to reveal some "big surprises", and Nintendo power mentioned in their latest issue that they had a some surprises planned for next issue. Could we be on the verge a a Zelda revelation? I'm reluctant to think so, as I would be surprised to see anything Zelda related until E3, but there always is the possibility.

That's really all for the main ideas. I will try to update on other, less official things in the future (such as other fan sites). Also, there is the possibility that I may be attending E3 with a very good friend this year. And if so, I would hopefully be able to give my own coverage of the event, which I think would be awesome for the site. Speaking of the site, we have some good stuff coming your way.Things have finally been mobilizing for Webmasterbob and the rest of us, and we will make the changes ASAP. Finally, I am in the proses of working on my first editorial for the site, which will be on our collective opinions and desires for the upcoming Zelda game. I am trying as hard as I can to push it out by the end of this month, but if I am a little late, I apologize. Well, that's all for now! Lets keep our fingers crossed for the 24th. Zelda or no Zelda, this looks like it's going to be a very good year for the Nintendo faithful!!

After many months of waiting, someone finally solved out LOZS (Legend of Zelda Sages) Challenge!  Our member Linkman just won himself a free Wii Shop title!

Linkman won the contest by playing our game, The Legend of Zelda Sages, to full completion then to solve a puzzle in the bonus world.  Many participants found our secret web address, but failed to enter the correct password.  The password was TriSword.  We had A LOT of people sending in guesses, but well, Linkman was the first to get it spot on!  Congratulations to him!

Zelda Wii: Possible Detail Leak
By Stealthylight
Published: January 18, 2010

I hate to take hard earned information from other sites, but this is to sweet to pass up. From the sleuths over at Zelda Informer, it is a rather strong possibility that for the first time, today, we have received concrete details concerning the next Zelda installment. According to a famous, Japanese message board called 2Chan, an entire laundry list of tidbits regarding Zelda Wii have found their way onto the web. 2Chan itself, has been known for correctly and precisely "predicting" information on unreleased games (As they did with the The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker back in 2003). You can go to ZI's post on the subject, but I will reprint them here for your convenience. Once again, thanks for ZI and all those who contributed to this massively potential find. The details are as follows...

  • The game will be vary from the dungeon field dungeon method we are accustomed too.
  • You will be able to select right or left handed at the start, and Link will be left or right handed based on your selection
  • The gameplay and basic mechanics are complete.
  • They are currently polishing up the story and Characters.
  • One of the characters they are working on is a innkeeper in Link's home village who has a son that looks up to Link.
  • The girl in the art is not the Master Sword, and it appears the Master Sword will not be in the game.
  • The girls name from the painting could possibly be Adelle, Adella, or Aderu.
  • She is not with you throughout the game like Ezlo and Midna.
  • The face in the painting of her is not her real face. It's not fully elaborated on much, but it does say that it was a place holder concept art piece.(assuming the entire art itself was just concept work)
  • Link's sword is highly unique in this game, and will have several unlockable abilities. Adelle (or whatever her final name becomes) communicates with you through this sword.
  • There will be horseback combat. Epona will avoid obstacles automatically.
  • The models for 3 significant characters in the game have been touched up, but no they are not Zelda or Ganondorf. (google translate gives rough names of Link, Gorons, and Epona, but our translator said it's not specifically mentioned)
  • The idea of this version of Link also being The Hero of Time has been highly considered, and may already be implemented.
  • Time travel plays a roll in the game.
  • The game takes place in more then just Hyrule, and may possibly not be Hyrule at all.

A LOT of good stuff, wouldn't you say. One a personally note, the idea of revisiting the life of the Hero of Time (or OoT Link as he is more commonly known), literally brings tears to my eyes. I, as well as you, should not be banking on these rumors, but that doesn't stop me from being hopeful. Ocarina of Time was my first true video game experience, and the inspiration from which my future is now set. Revisiting the life of THAT Link would be overwhelmingly meaningful. Hopes that E3 will bring clarity to the ever-growing cloud of Zelda Wii speculation.

A Small Site Update
By webmasterbob
Published: January 13, 2010

Hey all, just a bit of information concerning our plans to build a better Zelda Sages.  First of all, as of right now we are experiencing a hold-up with the software we are going to use to power ZS.  There are several bugs which would negatively impact your experience on Zelda Sages (in addition to making it impossible for me to style the darn thing at the present).  As such, we're going to need to wait a few more weeks before heavy styling work can be done.  As I said in a previous posting, however, we have a very good idea of what exactly we're building.  Our new staff member, Dane, and I have been working on creating the new site banner, which we've received very positive feedback on fro SITs and Sages.

Even with the minor setback, however, I've decided to implement a new function that will exist in the new ZS right now.  Rather than using an internal form system, we're moving a lot of our communication systems over to Google Apps.  A few months ago, I moved all the internal ZS mail system over to Google Apps, a suite for webmasters provided by Google that allows the use of all Google account services (such as Gmail and Google Docs)  on a domain level.  Actually, the last few months the staff has been swinging easy using Gmail.  As you've noticed, that hasn't changed a single thing for you guys; Emails are still the old zeldasages, etc.  However, the first bit of change for you guys is the use of Google Docs for that above mentioned form communication.  Check out our mailbag page to take a look-see.  I know it stretches the screen a bit; this is mainly due to the fact I set display settings for our development website and not the current ZS.  Rest assured, when we launch the new ZS, this won't be an issue.  Also, all mailbag questions submitted in the last few days that were not answered in Mike's mailbag should be re-submitted using the new form.

That's really all there is to say for now.  I'll be able to say much more after a staff meeting taking place Saturday the 23rd.
