Yes, after many long weeks and a brand new motherboard later my computer lives! What dopes this mean exactly? Well, now I can actually use all the site builder programs I have such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc to fix any issues which may arise, fun. In addition work on The Legend of Zelda Sages has continued once again. I know I said I wanted to release the first release candidate to testers before the end of June as to allow a possible early July (basically right now) release; however, the situation at hand really destroyed my little vision. That aside though everything is running very smoothly...and it only cost me $139.10 . On a side note i am a teddy is currently working on the next mailbag. He will post an article when everything is complete so all of you can gawk at his failure work.

Well, by "it" I mean the final stage of my computer repair. I just received the new motherboard in the mail today; so, all that separates me from all my files (and the ZS files) is a small time commitment. If all goes well I should have my PC back in a few days. That aside though I must say it has been rather interesting working off my Powerbook as my main computer (OS X really is a wonderful piece of OS to work with, it's just not the best system for development).
Anyway though we also have a brand new affiliate! Portal to Hyrule! Be sure to give them a visit; they really do have a wonderful site!

If you're wondering that was the sound I heard about 48 hours ago right before my computer was shocked to a vegatative state. So, I'm going to be a bit behind on picking a new staff writer, working, etc as my computer will turn on...but not boot . I'm taking it to the repair shop later today to get everything fixed (good news, it's not my motherboard!) Until the repairs are completed though I won't be able to be online. Right now I'm typing this article from a public computer, lucky me. So, I'll be back in a few days. I'd like to think of it as a mini-vacation; the brighter side is always the best to look at after all.
Update: Well, sadly I now need to wait for the parts to come in. So, I'm still without my desktop for the time being. Never fear though, all my data is still on there (so says the repairman )

That's right, the rarest of events will be accruing once again (and no we don't mean an SIT election). Dan and I have decided to hire a brand new site writer. So, what's in it for all of you? Well, we don't have any applicants yet. In other words, we're opening up a new position for anyone who wishes to apply for it! Just to provide a brief description of the site writer position: "Site Writer" A site writer spends their time writing guides, posting news, essentially acting as a field reporter and novelist all in one. As a site writer, you will be responsible for the creation of new game guides as well as the upkeep of site news and Zelda Sages community members. Applicants need not have a strong knowledge of HTML, however a basic understanding of the concepts and basic coding of HTML are required. In addition, you must be able to write at a tenth grade level, minimum. You will be asked to submit several writing samples with your application (more on that later; these samples can come from previously written guides, research papers, etc so don't freak out). For those of you interested please fill out the short form located on the staff page. We're in hopes for a good number of applicants to choose from so please run out and apply (if you feel like it of course).

The Joy of being Webmaster...

A good number of people believe that being a webmaster is a fun job accompanied with power, respect, and all that other fun stuff. To an extent, that's true. However, I've just had to deal with the not so fun part of being a webmaster, fixing major issues.
As many of you know last night I planned to update our chatroom integration as to accommodate the new friends system as well as a few backend enhancements. However, the server decided that it apparently no longer desired my company and blocked me. A few hours back and forth with Site5 brought this to light and after several apologies and "we're putting your IP address on the server whitelist so this never happens again" I set back to work. Of course, after finally installing everything (it really is wonderful now, I can edit groups individually from the admin panel rather than editing a file) the settings page decided to die. So, at the present, I have an open support ticket with the company that supplies our chatroom to diagnose the problem. As Zelda Sages is a paying customer we have the right (or at least I do) to mark tickets as "high priority). However, I have no idea what the response time will be as I've never had to send in a ticket with Addonchat before.
So, in the meantime, the chatroom still does not work. However, I have disabled the integration and opened the forums back up until I get a response to the ticket. I'll be keeping everyone updated via this news article on what's going on. In the meantime though, go enjoy the forums. I really do apologize; as you can imagine I'm just as unhappy as you all are at the present.
Update 1: Well, the good news in the settings page is no longer an issue. However, now we have a wonderful error present when trying to load the chatroom...lovely. I assure all of you all this madness will be well worth it though; hang in there!
Update 2: All fixed, wohoo! I'll explain more on everything sometime in the next few days.

Sorry About That

Yup, that bit of downtime was my fault. I set the domain name for Zelda Sages to renew automatically, however I forgot I changed credit cards. So, some of you may have noticed that lovely "this domain has been parked by Act Now Domains" page, sent me E-Mails, etc. Rest assured, we have not died . Again, I apologize for the inconvenience.
