My Dead Computer #2

UltimaLink007

Hope Never Dies
Joy.......when I went to go on ZS after dinner, my computer froze, so I shut it off. When I tried to turn it on again, all it did was make wierd noises, and shoot cold air out of the fan area........So now my laptop is messed up.......... does anyone know anything that might be wrong? Or am I just doomed.............DOOMED!?!?!?!?!

Well, that depends. Have you left it on for hours on end?? If not, then I will think about it...

I forgot to turn it off when I left the house, but it was only an hour and a half, and I charged it all night.......

I will check it when I get home..... if it doesn't work, I'll be forced to use my desktop0, which is really slow because my sister never runs scans on it..............

Well, this bites........I'm using my desktop now (I prefer my laptop so much more), but only after I downloaded Spybot and Adaware. After running the first scan, guess how many objects there were. My sister, after using this computer, had put on

123 CRITICAL OBJECTS!!!!!

No wonder it was so slow!

Leaving your computer on AND plugged in is not a problem. Mine is on almost 24/7. Literally. If your screen does not even show any DOS text, something is definetly wrong. Try removing and replugging your battery. Make sure when you start it that it is plugged in. If nothing else works... call Dell?

Sorry...taking the battery out and putting it back in doesn't work..... it's an IBM Thinkpad, maybe the battery is fried, it doesn't even charge properly..........

Well if you see absolutly no text on-screen, it is either a power problem (battery) or a hardware problem (dead HD). Good luck with it.

I will check out my battery in a little bit..........I REALLY hope it's not my HD, if it is, that would really bite...........

Heh heh... byte... its a pun...

Another thing you could try:
The Dell online chat. MUCH better than trying to figure it out yourself and MUCH MUCH better than talking to some guy on the phone in India.

No, its a guy on the computer in India instead. I have needed to use it before though, and it works well. :)

How do I get to this "DELL online chat" of which you speak? and does it cost any money? I don't want to waste money if they don't have the slightest clue of what's wrong with it...

Lol, try this button.
