Dakare

Deus Ex Machina
How many people have seen this movie. I have and I thought it was a really good movie, and half historically accurate. Some things were wrong, like the Persians didn't have war elephants, but whatever. So what did you guys think of it?

It's all how you look at it really. You might think it looks like **** because it is made like Sin City, so it is kinda comic booky. It is also based off of a graphic novel, so that would also back up the comic book look. And maybe you don't like history too much. Of course maybe you don't like blood and guts. Whatever it is, I'm sure you have a good reason for not liking it.

It looks like ****. Just from the commercials.

The reason I think it looks like **** is because there have been so many movies like it already, who says this is the one that kicks all the others' asses?
Also, from what I've seen the Romans had a big part in that movie (I think they're overrated beyond reason).

 Wha... Did you say Romans? Where the hell in that movie did you see Romans!?!

Er, you're bad with geography, aren't you? Sparta is in Greece. Not Rome. And so then it's Greece vs. Persia.

In conclusion, no Romans.

And no, I haven't seen the movie. Excessive violence doesn't appeal to me very much. It just happened to be the main subject of conversation in many of my classes on Monday, and since I'm kind of a classics buff I googled it...

There's a place in New Jersey called Sparta ^_^

Yay for geography lessons from random people on the internet! So I think the movie had it a bit wrong, they put Sparta closer to the sea. But it WAS based off of a graphic novel, so they didn't have to be completely correct.

Rome conquored the Greek peninsula around 133 BC. The Second Persian War was 480-479 BC. There's about a 350 year gap between the two.
This is why I don't talk to you.
So this used to be a novel...what was it called, 300? And is it worth reading?

Yea, Rome ruled a lot of stuff, including Greece, Egypt, and other places. Wow that was a lot of commas. Probably too many... Off topic. Sorry. But Versac is right. 350 year gap. So Greece was not part of Rome when the Persians attacked.

And I don't know if it's worth reading. I never read it. And to warn you, it's a graphic novel. That's basically a giant comic book.
