Bungie and Microsoft Split

webmasterbob

The Webmaster
I've posted this in the general chat area being the extreme surprise I received from this news.

Bungie, as of yesterday, is no longer a subsidiary of Microsoft. Bungie has broken off back to its stand-alone developer roots now using the name Bungie LLC. According to Microsoft and Bungie representatives, they will continue to send the majority of their support to Microsoft platforms, however they seek to expand their presence in the gaming market. As a matter of fact, a wonderful shark analogy was used to emphasize this ;).

An article from Gamespot can be found here detailing the event. Reading between the lines of the Bungie spokesperson one can see a possible motivation to create Wii and DS titles! THAT would be something truly amazing!

...HALO FOR THE WII?! MAYBE I WILL DIE IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND WILL SEE HEAVEN?!! Since HALO is owned by Bungie....OMG THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

That would be pretty sweet. I think the same might happen with Rare because they're making Viva Pinata for DS...

Wow ... I saw an article on G4 about Halo DS, which I immeadiatly thought was fake, but now, I might just have thought wrong.
