Beatles?

IMO, I think that the Beatles essentially defined the music of the 60s. If it wasn't for them, a lot of current bands and older bands wouldn't have made music that could have made them famous
 
Yeah, not to mention they saved us from the crap that was being produced in the early sixties. The teen idols were awful. Just look up Pat Boone and you'll see what I'm talking about.
